Happy New Year!

The music is thumping down the road reverberating in our own walls. Fireworks have been set in the parking lot of a nearby hotel. Parties are echoing around our small town. The music of many venues will build to a shaking crescendo as midnight approaches.

Jeff spent the last day of 2013 confidently stepping into brand new territory returning exhilarated at the end of the day. The kids have played games, eaten chocolate, watched new movies and are trying really hard to stay awake until midnight.

I cooked some special treats—homemade lasagne for tonight and homemade salsa for tomorrow. We have overflowing bowls of gooseberries and strawberries and the sweetest of mangoes crowding our kitchen table. Chilled sparkling cider awaits the celebration ahead.

We are missing those who are far away. We are deeply grateful for those who are near. And we are committed to stepping with assurance into the gifts and responsibilities of 2014. Confident of our King and His mercy. Longing for more of Him in our hearts, in our dreams, in our messes and in our world.

Happy New Year, Dear Friends and Family!

May the recently celebrated choruses, proclaiming Emmanuel’s coming, crescendo and hold in all the tumult and promise of this New Year.

Rolling through and sustaining long past every midnight across this globe.

He has been.

He will be.

He is.

With.
